The Long Way to Finding Home in New Zealand

For a long time, I was trying to figure out where I truly belonged. I moved cities, lived in different countries, and tried on a lot of different versions of myself along the way. I worked different jobs (even became a flight attendant at one point) thinking maybe this would be the thing that finally made everything click.

Every place taught me something. Some gave me growth, some gave me resilience, and some simply showed me what I didn’t want. There were moments of excitement, moments of uncertainty, and plenty of times where I wondered if I was falling behind while everyone else seemed settled.

But looking back now, none of it was wasted.

Each move, each job, each restart quietly shaped me and eventually led me to New Zealand. This place didn’t just become where I live, it became where things finally made sense. Where my experiences, my values, and my purpose started to align.

Now, as an immigration adviser, I don’t just help people with visas and paperwork. I help people who are searching for their place too… because I’ve been there.

I know what it’s like to trust the journey without knowing where it will lead, and how powerful it is when you finally find your place.

If you’re in the middle of your own journey – unsure, unsettled, or wondering if you’re on the right path – know that it doesn’t have to make sense yet. Sometimes, you only understand the journey once you’ve arrived.
